Istanbul by Yannis Henrion

For the second part of my Istanbul city diary, I decided to explore the side of Istanbul that is a bit away from the touristic areas in order to experience what life in Istanbul could be like. I stayed at Witt Hotel Istanbul, which became a favorite as soon as I entered it. This boutique hotel, member of the Design Hotel collection combines the perfect location in the city and a good balance of design and nice furniture in a place that is still very welcoming. I love the neighborhood that surrounds this hotel, full of life and very simple, yet super trendy. Grab a beer and enjoy it on the very private rooftop of Witt Hotel.

I would definetly recommend a trip on a boat to the Prince’s Islands. My favorites are Burgazada for taking a walk and Heybeliada for cycling. A visit to the library of Heybeliada Seminary followed by dinner at Mavi is also recommended. Istanbul has fabulous options for eating out. For lunch Şimdi and Gram in Asmalımescit are also great and for a drink in the evening Journey in Cihangir is a favorite. A night in Beyoğlu will surely be entertaining; full of adrenalin and the best part is that you never know what’s going to happen next.

I first stayed at Mercure Taksim, next to Taksim place, one of the most lively place I saw in Istanbul, both by day and night. I loved going to Beyoglu, which is full of restaurants and people. It's not a secret place and far from not being touristic but you will find both good food, nice bars and a great mix of people.
